How Will Vibrasat® Pro Improve My Practice?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons 2018 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report documents liposuction as the second most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in 2018. Moreover, the number of liposuction procedures increased by 5% between 2017 to 2018.
It’s in high demand for good reasons, liposuction and fat grafts are permanent procedures that can often be performed in one session. Not to mention demand continues to increase for facial, neck, and body contouring; reconstructive surgeries that combine liposuction and functional plastic surgery; and cosmetic surgeries that combine fat transfers and implants for breast and buttock augmentation.
As a result, it is up to manufacturers to engineer medical devices that advance with the plastic surgery trends and technology of our time. With this in mind, Moeller Medical has created Vibrasat® Pro, a new medical device that will simplify the liposuction process, reduce health risks to the patient, and offer several other features that will improve efficiency and efficacy.
Vibrasat® Pro: A Liposuction Device that Delivers Comfort and Precision
Since liposuction is becoming more complex, surgeons will require lightweight instruments that fit comfortably in the hand while minimizing fatigue. Möller Medical, a German company that has been engineering medical devices for decades has developed Vibrasat® Pro, a vibration liposuction device designed to meet the growing needs of cosmetic and plastic surgeons and their clients.
Vibrasat® Pro gently separates fat at a rate of 5.000 strokes per minute with a stroke of 3mm or up to 6.000 strokes per minute with the power boost function. Meanwhile competing devices break up fat cells at 3,000 – 4,000 strokes per minute.
No other power-assisted liposuction device offers a boost function which gives surgeons the option to remove fat in quick strokes and is ideal for tough, fibrous fat such as that found on the back, shoulders, and a male’s chest.
Vibrasat® Pro is engineered with a strong but quiet motor that has been optimized to reduce the risk of overheating during surgery. Despite its powerful engine, very little vibration is transferred to the surgeon’s hand.
The model has an ergonomic and anatomical design; cushioned handle; reduced diameter; and is lightweight for balance and comfort during prolonged surgeries. The vibration button is located on the handle to make surgery more convenient for the surgeon. “The button on the new Vibrasat® Pro is great and the new boost function is very beneficial for certain surgical cases.” – Dr. Afschin Fatemi
Vibrasat® Pro does not need to be disassembled to autoclave, unlike many of its competitors. A QuickLock System has been integrated into the new design to allow quick cannula-replacement without changing the tube. Surgeons can reposition the cannula at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°; an advantage when opening holes are on only one side of the cannula.
“Vibrasat® Pro is the optimal device for Expansion Vibration Lipofilling. Another advantage is the quick and comfortable possibility of changing the cannulas.” – Dr. Alexander T. Hamers
Reduce Health Risks
One of every surgeon’s biggest concerns is how their patient will react to liposuction. Although we’ve come a long way since the early liposuction devices, the risk of swelling, bleeding, pain, and complications are still our concern. However, evidence suggests Vibrasat’s power-assisted liposuction is among one of the liposuction methods that causes the least amount of trauma.
A 2011 article in The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery features a case-study that compared the level of trauma certain liposuction methods caused to the septal fibers. The methods used were Moeller Medical’s Vibrasat Power-Assisted Cannula, as well as laser-assisted liposuction, suction-assisted liposuction, ultrasound-assisted liposuction, and water-assisted liposuction.
Author Dr. Fatemi suggested:
Reduced trauma with power-assisted liposuction may stem from the fact that it uses a cannula that vibrates and reciprocates through the tissue as opposed to the blunt mechanical damage that occurs with SAL.
The Vibrasat® Pro’s narrow cannulas make it possible for surgeons to perform liposuction with a small incision, reducing the risks of infection and wound dehiscence. Moreover, the smaller cannulas separate fat with less pain, bleeding, and swelling than many of its competitors.
Further risk to the patient’s health can be minimized when the Vibrasat® Pro is paired with the Liposat® power, Moeller Medical’s elite infiltration device that administers tumescent local anesthesia (TLA).
Innovative and Diverse Cannulas
Focus on body contouring has resulted in higher demands for lipostructuring; it is believed that utilizing the patient’s own fat as a filler for the hips, buttock, breasts, and face reduces the risks of allergic reactions and complications.
Surgeons have several factors to consider during lipostructuring, such as preserving harvested fat cells, manipulating the placement of fat cells to ensure aesthetic results, and performing these surgeries utilizing their specific techniques. As a result, they may require specialty cannulas that are specifically designed for extracting, harvesting, and transferring fat.
Vibrasat® Pro features over 11 cannulas so surgeons can choose their approach to extraction, harvesting, contouring, and lipofilling. Each cannula is available in several sizes ranging from as large as 5.00mm – 4.00mm in diameter to as small as 2.50mm in diameter and features special designs such as the number, size, and location of holes.
Extraction Cannulas: their small, elongated engineering makes them ideal for removing large volumes of fat.
Harvesting Cannulas: these slim designs make transferring fat for body sculpting easier, ultimately allowing surgeons to graft as much or as little fat as they need with accuracy.
Speciality Cannulas: these were created with surgeons in mind by providing them with several options to tailor their procedure according to their distinct process and patient needs.
Quicker, accurate procedures not only make liposuction easier for the surgeon but reduce bleeding and swelling in the patient. This means the patient recovers sooner than in the past.
