The flow of CSF is adjusted individually by the user and monitored by the device, thanks to the minimum and maximum flow rate (ml/h), which are also individually adjustable. The measured pressure controls start and stop of the pump.
In this process negative pressure is never generated ("suctioned in") but only excess fluid is drained. If individually set alarm limits are exceeded or underranged (e.g. pressure volume, etc.) the system outputs visual and acoustic alarms.

All safety-relevant components are designed redundantly and reciprocally check each other. Through this concept and years of experience LiquoGuard®7 is the safest method for draining CSF under controlled circumstances.
The double (redundant) design and permanent reciprocal monitoring of the pressure sensors also provide the advantage that problems due to sensor drift, which a problem with many other pressure sensor systems, do not occur.

The usual problems of conventional external ventricular CSF drainage systems (EVD) are the incorrect adjustment of the drop chamber (e.g during and after relocation, transport, CT, OP, angiography), unnoticed pressure sensor errors (e.g. drift), which causes incorrect CSF pressures to be displayed, and frequently results in catheter blockage and / or the indisposition of patients, over-drainage and under-drainage and unnoticed collapsed ventricles. With LiquoGuard® these situations and many other situations are detected.
Through the possibility of connecting a second, independent and external pressure sensor (e.g. parenchyma probe) the possibility is provided of continuing to measure, and possibly continuing to drain, even if there is suspicion of slit ventricles.
LiquoGuard® is impressively easy to operate, significantly easier than a drop chamber system, for example - and it is significantly safer.
The LiquoGuard® system can be connected to all commercially available lumbar and ventricular drainage catheters (e.g. Raumedic, Spiegelberg, Integra, etc.).
The cerebrospinal fluid pressure and flow are permanently recorded and displayed on the device. For additional analysis the data can be evaluated on a PC.
To perfectly adapt the device to your requirements LiquoGuard®7 has a modular design and thus is extremely flexible. By the simple addition of software options you can configure LiquoGuard®7 to suit your individual requirements and your budget.
